I Am Really a 7 Year Old Boy Trapped In A 46 Year Old Woman's Body

I first must say that I am totally immature.
Anything that is bathroom humor or gross, I am the first to laugh out loud.
So I apologize if the newest page I made may offend anyone.
My 2 youngest daughters were outside playing in the snow and eating it, and the only thing in my head was "Please don't eat the yellow snow!"
And voila... A page was born.
I'm trying to have some humor back in my pages now that life is good again.
And I'm pretty sure I am the first that has ever done a page about this topic and I'm pretty sure I'll be the last. LOL

Nicknames

One random fact about me is I like to give nicknames to people I know.
But it has become out of control since I started giving birth over 15 years ago.
My poor kids have a laundry list full of names that I call them.
Each one more embarrassing than the next.
For their sake, I won't name them here.
For your sake, I won't name them here too.
But Erin's newest nickname has to do with the fact that her arms and legs are SO skinny they look like twigs.
She is 8 and a 1/2 years old and when soaking wet possibly weighs 45 lbs.
I have such problems finding clothes that fit her.
So with that, I leave you with..."Twiggy"

Blog Challenge

My friend Diane tagged me to do a photo memory challenge and being I am so new to blogging I assume everyone has already done this many times over, so I will just post my photo but I won't send it on.
I know, I am such a rule breaker.
If anyone would like to continue this, please by all means do :)
Anyway these are the rules:

Go to where you store you pictures on your computer. Go to the SIXTH folder and pick the SIXTH picture. Post that picture on your blog along with a SHORT story about it. Tag SIX people and leave a comment on their blog or email them letting them know you chose them.

This photo is actually when I had my old Casio digital camera.
Now that I have my Canon D-SLR, I can't bear to see my old photos, I just think of all the missed opportunities of great photos.
Anyway, my husband Andy goes with a dozen of his friends to a golf outing in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina every year.
We all miss him when he's gone, but 2 years ago, Erin took it to the next level and wrote him a note on the driveway professing just how much she misses him when he is gone.
This was her note:

From Erin
Dear Daddy,
How are you? I missed you when you went. Did you miss me?
I don't like when this happens because you have to leave me.
I love you Daddy. You are the best Daddy.

And she finished it off with a drawing of a sad face with tears
Sadly, I think it rained before he got home and it was washed away, but luckily (even before I was a scrapper) I always had a camera on me for perfect moments like this one.
And here is the page I made for it, called "The Love Note:

So have a great weekend everyone,
especially all my scrap friends who are going to CHA, I am so envious! ;)

Is Is Just My Kids...

...or does everyones kids always complain that their siblings have more photos? (and scrap pages)
I try to reason with them that at 8 yrs of age, Erin is still my best friend/doll/slave.
I can pose her (she is bendable) and ask to do do basically anything for me, and it is always done happily.
I so love this age :)
On the other end of the spectrum, Megan (11) and Ryan (15) when asked simply to pose for a picture, sigh, moan and whine like I was beating the piss out of them.
So that was what inspired today's scrap page:

My 2 older daughters constantly say that Erin is my favorite, but I tell them she is just the easiest of my 3 girls.
I'm no fool, I realize the dynamics will change someday.
I did a page recently dealing with my favorite girl, I loved the way this came out but especially I love the bottom right hand sticker that says results may vary.
No truer words have ever been written ;)

To Quote Tina Turner

...better than all the rest!
I swear I will get on with my life soon ;)
I just wanted to post my latest page which not suprisingly had to do with Simple Scrapbooks magazine.
Anyway, hopefully CK Media will do its other publication right and give SS the space it deserves in Creating Keepsakes magazine too.
Enough about that for today.
No school today for the girls, so the usual around the house today...
laundry piled high, dishes in the sink, squabbling over the Wii, "What's for dinner?" (at 10:00 AM, asked by Megan, world's pickiest eater!) the answer is "Chicken" because the answer is always "Chicken" to her. lol
Hope your day is filled happiness!

Simply Sad

For all the scrappers out there,
by now you have heard the sad news about Simple Scrapbooks ceasing publication.
The good news is they will merge into their sister magazine, Creating Keepsakes.
The bad news is how many people are out of jobs from this.
The economy is so scary right now, no one is safe.
I adored SS so much, everything about the magazine just appealled to my clean and simple style of scrapping (hence the name of this blog)
It's very surreal going from website to website seeing how unbelievably sad so many people are, I don't think if any of the other scrap magazines were to fold that there would be such a profound display of sadness.
For someone like me, a beginner in scrapping, this magazine gave me hope that maybe someday I could actually be in the magazine.
I am thrilled to be able to say that I was contacted by a contributing editor to do an assignment that will be seen in the May/June 2009 final issue.
I leave you with a recent LO I did of my youngest daughter, Erin after she had a sad day.
As I told her that day, today you are hurting, but I promise, tomorrow will be a better day.

And All Was Right In The World...

Ryan came home from the hospital yesterday, the day was emotion-filled for sure.
Having her back home after 8 long months of hospital stays was wonderful.
But it didn't really hit me until we all gathered in our bed and turned on:
American Idol!
It's back, baby, with a new judge (who I didn't want to like, but ended up loving her feistiness!)
But nothing warmed my heart more than hearing the missed sounds of
"Move over!",
"Let me have some popcorn!",
"Stop chewing so loud!",
"I wanna sit next to Mommy!"
Oh...the things you miss when they are gone...
Anyway, we are all American Idol fans in our house.
But unlike most of America, we can't stand watching the ones who can't sing.
In the past, there was one Idol who we all fell in love with.
Season 5, the underdog, Elliott Yamin.
So much so, when my daughter found out he was doing a signing in a mall an hour away, I threw the kids in the car and stood on line to meet him.
Ok, so I lied, I found out through stalking his Myspace that he would be there ;)
Isn't so it nice when famous people actually meet your expectations?
He could not have been nicer to every single person who was there.
Anyone else a fan of American Idol?

Cancer-Free!

What I failed to mention in my previous post is that my oldest daughter Ryan, has been battling a rare bone cancer since being diagnosed early last May. She has gone through hell, as has everyone around her who loves her. Earlier this evening, we got a call from her oncologist saying that Ryan is now cancer-free. I have never heard more beautiful words than those. Ryan is an amazing young girl and I cannot wait to see the person that emerges after experiencing what she has just been through. I would have gone insane if not for this wonderful hobby I happened to stumble across less than 2 years ago. I have become a better scrapper because of her illness, she inspired me by the minute. I love her so and am so proud to be her Mom.

First Things First

Welcome to my blog.
My little world consists of my 3 daughters, 1 supportive husband and 1 dog who loves me more than I love her. (I have guilt)
I take an insane amount of photos of them and will forever be behind in editing them.
I love scrapbooking, music, reality TV and useless entertainment trivia (I always get the pink chip in Trivial Pursuit first)
Thank you for visiting...
