Songs Stuck In My Head- Part 2

It's that time again to look at some pages I have made with songs as inspiration for pages.
I love music!
Whether driving in my car, scrapping or blog-hopping on my computer, music is always in the background.
When I was growing up and other little girls wanted to be nurses, mommys and teachers...I wanted to be a disc jockey on the radio. lol
I even had my own moniker "JD the DJ" (JD was my maiden name initials)
Corny, I know, but I was young, ok?
Anyway, today's page is a shout out to Bruce Springsteen. I love the song, "Jersey Girl" and the title is a lyric from the chorus.
Erin has been collecting football/baseball jerseys for some time now, I think she has 7 or 8 so far.
She could care less about the sports though.
Hates the sport, loves the fashion :)
Oh, and we're not from Jersey either:

Anyone who was around in the 80's will remember this song from Michael Jackson called "P.Y.T. (Pretty Young Thing)".
I made the page because Megan is so pretty in this photo, but she was mortified to have his name mentioned in the journaling because nowadays, children are exposed to a completely different Michael Jackson from back in the day when he was considered a musical genius.:

And finally, this page was made during Ryan's cancer battle.
She was definitely my hero throughout her ordeal and this lyric from Bette Midler's "Wind Beneath My Wings" was perfect for a page.:

I'll leave you with those because I'll still have more for another day when another song will inspire me to make a page.
As always, thanks for stopping by :)
Have a great Monday!

Somebunny Loves Erin

TGIF!
Last night I squeezed out a page I had wanted to do for Paula Gilarde's 2Peas Pub Ad Inspiration challenge.
It had to do with my littlest Erin and her love for her "Bunny"
I refer to Bunny as my 4th child because he has been around so long.
Erin still sleeps with him, he waits in the front window while she is at school, and he eats dinner with us everynight.
He even talks, Erin kind of does a ventriliquist throwing of her voice, it's really cute.
About 5 years ago, Bunny was once lost for 17 days (not that I was counting!) and it turned out that Erin had put him in the zipper pocket of a suitcase and by chance on day 17, I checked the suitcase.
While missing, she screamed out his name EVERY night in her sleep that he was gone.
Did I mention he was gone for 17 days and nights?????
Good times!
Bunny rates so high in our house that he is today's theme.
I think it's wonderful that someday Erin will be able to look back at all these pages I made of her and Bunny and remember just how much she loved him.
For the Pub Ad challenge, I used photos I took almost 2 years ago, but I got so many adorable photos that day, here are just 4 of them:

Bunny has been loved so much that my Mom has had to sew a new face on him and restuff him too many times to count.
He started out a pretty pink, but now he is dingy gray.
One of my very 1st pages had to do with the story "The Velveteen Rabbit"
I used the quote that makes me a quivering puddle everytime I read it aloud:

Another Bunny & Erin page I made a while ago, I just love how much she loves him:

And finally, here is a page with a lyric from the song "When She Loved Me" from Toy Story 2.
Another blubbering mess I become when I hear the song.

So if you have children, is there one thing that they have become attached to?
A blanket, a stuffed animal...anything that you want them to remember?
Take some time to scrap the love, you won't regret it :)
Have a great weekend!

'Round Here

Welcome on this Monday :)
Hope your weekend was a good one.
I spent it doing the usual...cleaning, laundry and grocery shopping.
But late last night I made a page using the pretty Dream Street by Alexis Hardy papers & rub-ons I won in a RAK they held on their blog.
This page was done for a challenge on the American Crafts blog, where you had to use 3 different Thickers.
While going through my stash, it's obscene the amount I actually have.
But they keep coming out with new ones that I have to have!
Today's theme is rounded corners, it's a look I love and I've done it quite a few times.
All you need is a scissors and a steady hand, or you can do what I do and buy a corner punch.
This photo was taken of Erin in August of 2007 during our trip to Cape Cod, I love her eyes in this one:

Another page with rounded corners was made during Ryan's cancer fight.
This photo Ryan took of herself and manipulated the color a smidge.:

And one more page with rounded corners I made this year with a Christmas photo from 2007 of my 3 girls holding up their handmade needlepoint stockings that my Mom made for them.
The photo doesn't do justice to just how beautiful the stockings are, we all love them so much...thanks Mom :)

As always, thanks for visiting my little blog.
Hope your day is a good one!

The Canine Chronicles

Happy Friday to you!
Been busy with doctor's appts. and spring clothes shopping so I haven't been able to scrap or post until this morning.
It's been awhile since I did a page about Sweetie, my ignored but not starved pup.
Since the "after" photo was taken, I put her on a "No Pasta" diet and she is back to her fighting weight.
It's funny, I didn't notice how fat she was getting until she was...fat!

Here is another Sweetie page.
She is a mini dachshund who LOVES to lay in the sun, like me ;)

This is my favorite body part of hers, her extremely kissable "Snout":

And finally Sweetie's ear's are usually found in the bent position.
Cracks me up!

Are you a dog person or a cat person?
I love dogs, just not living IN my house.
But this is what happens when your daughter Megan asks every.single.solitary.day of her life for a pet dog.
You have that 1 second of...
"Awwwwww, how cute will it be to have a sweet puppy around the house?"
And that feeling literally lasted 1 day after we got her. lol
But she is family, just an under-foot, cheeto-smelling, loud member of our family.
Have a great weekend!

Erin Go Blog

Happy St. Patrick's Day!
Are you wearing green today?
My kids love getting dressed up for school every year.
Erin especially because we told her that her name means "Ireland"
I love it because I buy Irish Soda Bread to eat.
It's always about the food!
Today's 2 pages are of course in honor of St. Patrick's Day and both have my little Irish lass Erin in them.
This is today's page, "Lucky":

And this was last year's page.
I love this sweet little Irish quote.
Erin is going to wear the same shamrock antennas to school again this year:

So...enjoy the day because everyone is Irish on St. Patty's Day!

All My Children

Happy Monday!
I hope everyone's weekend was good.
I am still going through every single thing I own in my scraproom and putting everything in color-coordinating bins.
This is where my OCD is in full tilt!
Has anyone noticed I like my blog entries to have a theme?
Can you guess what today's theme will be?
Correct!
Pages that include all 3 girls :)
So, after looking at this new photo of my 3 girls, I got really nostalgic.
I wanted this page to have a smaller photo of them when they were younger,
but of course my scanner decided to crap out on me.
Such is life.
Here is "Time Flies":

This next page is one of my older pages, and my girls always ask after I am done barking orders on how to take a picture a.k.a. generally acting like a photo Nazi ("Smile!", "Look at me!", "Stop fighting!" etc...) if they can do a silly pose.
I loved this one enough to make a page out of it:

And lastly, my favorite book to read when my girls were little is a book called "Love You Forever".
The only problem is I am such a wuss, that halfway through the book I am in tears and I can't finish reading it.
That's when either Ryan or Megan would step in and take over while Mommy composed herself.

So that's it for today...I am ahead of the game and have already made a LO for St. Patrick's Day tomorrow...Go me! :)
Have a great day!

mIXinG LetTEr STicKErs

iS iT JUst Me OR dO yOu haTE wheN PEOple wrITE lIKE ThiS?
:::crickets:::
Ok, just me.

Happy Friday the 13th!
Anyone have any weird superstitious habits?
I knock on wood in almost every conversation I have and if I drive pass a cemetery, I will hold my breath the entire length of it (some are realllllllly long!)
I've been doing that one since a 6th grade school field trip, someone on the bus told me that and I have been doing it for 35 years now.
Thanks random elementary school friend.
Anyhoo...another page in the can for me.
This was a weekly challenge over at the Garden Girl Two Peas in a Bucket site (1 day late for me) of mixing your title with different letter stickers.
I knew I wanted to make another page of the Megan & Mya and their continuous wear of their boots (here in NY, we call them FUGGS, for Fake Uggs) the day I spend $140 on a pair of boots that my daughter will outgrow in 3 months, shoot me first!
$16 at Target, my happiest place on Earth.
So I utilized the 479 thicker packs I have in my stash and created the title "Bootilicious", get it?
A play on words of that earworm hit of Destiny's Child!
So freakin' clever, I amaze myself ;)

I have done the mixing of letter stickers a couple times before, in some of my earliest pages.
This was my most favorite photo of my oldest Ryan in her bunny towel after one of her first baths.
My Mom took this adorable photo and it was inspired by the pages of Tina Cockburn, she is A.M.A.Z.I.N.G. simple scrapper & photographer.

And finally, another very early page of my 3 krazy kidz and their silliness on our backyard trampoline:

Back In Black

I made another page this morning about my oldest daughter and one of her closest friends (she has a couple and Lord knows if I say her "best" I have left someone out)
Anyway, this is another one of my favorite backgrounds to use.
I love the way a black background makes a page *POP*
I am all about the pop!
These two have been friends for about 6-7 years now and that's where I first heard the term "Lylas" and I call some of my own friends that too :)

Here's another page I did for a challenge that Celeste Smith had a while ago.
It was a tone on tone challenge and I used all black letters on a black background, I really liked the effect of all the different fonts used:

This page was a cool photo I took of my 3 girls almost two years ago, I loved the way their profiles/hair looked:

This is a very special page to me, my littlest and I are extremely close and this is something we have been saying to each other ever since she could speak.
We still say it numerous times a day and I get weepy thinking of the days that she won't want to say it all the time :*(

Believe it or not, I still have some more but I'll save them for another day, that just shows how much I love black as a background for my pages.
As always, thank you for stopping by...I'd love to hear from you if you have a sec, I love reading all of your nice comments.
Have a great day!

Hair, There And Everywhere

Hello there :)
Today's blog post has to do with...hair.
I know it's the bane of my existence.
If I'm having a bad hair day, look out, the whole day is shot to hell.

So, today's page is about my love for my littlest Erin's always tousled hair.
I brush & wet it down every single morning, but it always looks a little unkempt.
But I love it so :)

Here are a couple ways to style your hair...

1) No style at all:

2) Clumps or pigtails:

3) Maybe some braids:

4) Or better yet, you can donate your hair to an organization like "Locks of Love", as my biggest Ryan did before she lost her long hair to chemo treatments:

5) Maybe the "no-hair" look?:

So dear blog readers, our beauty is not indicitive from our hair follicles, that is something I have learned from Ryan's illness.
True beauty really does come from within.
Here is Ryan just the other day with her wonderful wig that her Pop-Pop who passed bought for her before he found out she was cancer-free.

Have a wonderful day!

White Is Right

Happy Monday :)
It was a beautiful weekend here in NY for the most of it.
My girls were outside most of the time, they took a hike with their Dad and they also covered the driveway in chalk drawings.
But I spent the majority inside getting my scraproom organized.
Someday I will actually post pictures of it.
I actually scrapped a page too, that rarely happens on the weekend.
I wanted to do a Color Combo Challenge with colors picked by Melanie L.
Visit her blog, she is an amazing, clean, graphic scrapper.
I have very good taste in scrappers, if I do say so myself! ;)
Anyway, if you haven't noticed my pages usually have a monochromatic look to them, I can't help it.
I don't go out of my box very much and I didn't go very far out of my box this time either :(
So this challenge was to use blue, red, yellow and white.
*ETA- The title is a Pebbles Inc word sticker that I outlined, I wish I could hand-cut like that. lol

I would do every single layout on white cardstock if I could.
I just think it's so crisp and clean.
Most of my personal favorite pages are on them.
Here's a few...

The 1st was made for the HMITM (How Much Is Too Much) Challenge and the challenge was to use 2 staples, and 9 different color cardstocks.
I bought the Martha Stewart tulip punch and punched out the 7 color cardstocks plus the white and black backgrounds.
it was easy as pie and then I printed the photo directly onto the white cardstock, it gave the photo such cool texture.
I just love Erin's sweet face in this one:

Another white layout was done of my husband, Andy on his Harley.
Very clean, very simple, no patterned papers.
I read some lyrics in a Tim McGraw song called "Real Good Man" and put my own spin on his lyrics:

And lastly, one of my earlier pages of Erin from last year, tasting her weight in snowflakes.
I had been scrapping for 6 months at that time and this was probably the 1st page I had made that had an "A-Ha" moment, where everything on the page just clicked.
I still love it, I think it looks a little like a magazine ad:

Thanks so much for stopping by today :)

11~Now And In The Olden Days

Can I get a woot...blogging 2 days straight!
So, I just made another page of my middlest Megan (I will hear crap later from littlest & biggest when they see she has been the focus of the last 3 out of 4 pages)
Anyway, while taking her photo last week, I couldn't help but think what a difference 11 years old these days is from when I was 11 in 1973. Yes, I'm that old.
Megan loves buying clothes, texting on her phone (!) and wearing make-up.
Things that I would never even care about when I was her age.
Yes, I know the cell phone wasn't invented yet, Megan!
(She will say that when she reads this post)
Here is Megan...flirting with the camera, fashion-conscious and friggin' getting way too old, way too fast for me:

And here I am at 11 years old, I must be crazy posting this pic.
So, I think things were a little different back in "the olden days", don't you agree?

Please tell me I'm not alone and your kids are aging more rapidly than you want them to too?
Anyone, anyone...Beuller?

You Gotta Have Friends

I have been very blessed with great friends my entire life.
My best friends that I made at 5 years of age are still in my life, my best friend from high school is as well and I have a small close-knit group of friends from my online life and now am making some new ones in this creative world of scrapbooking.
And so far all my girls are following the trend, they are all still best friends with the same girls they started elementary school with, my biggest is even still friends with a sweet girl she met at 2 1/2 yrs old at my gym's nursery.
Hell, the gym is looooooong gone from my life, but Ryan & Brittany's friendship is still going strong.
My middlest Megan has a best friend Mya who lives right down the road, so either Mya is here or Megan is there.
I love taking photos of the two of them together because I think they both are so photogenic.
This was snapped on Saturday and scrapped on Sunday.
I was inspired by pages by the very talented Celeste Smith, I just love her style :)
I titled it, "Besties":

And this was one of my earliest pages I made of them, titled "Best Friends":

I need to scrap my other 2 girls friendships, Lord knows I have enough photos of them.
And then I need to do some pages of my own friendships, for they have made me who I am today.
I know if I ever attempt it, someone will call me and say their hair looks like crap, they look too fat, etc...lol
Please, if you leave a comment today, I would love to hear if you are still friends with your "Bestie"
More importantly, I'd love to hear from you, period :)
-Jody
