9/11

I found this photo of the Twin Towers
in my mother's old photos that I have been scanning.
I believe it is from the early '80s.
I love that we have this photo.

Ten years ago, that ordinary September morning,
I put my 2 older girls on the school bus,
and put my youngest baby girl down for a morning nap,
and proceeded to take a nap myself.
I was woken up by a phone call from my husband
who was at work asking me if I was watching the news.
I turned on the TV just in time to see the 1st tower implode.
I remember feeling the blood freeze in my veins.
And then I remember crying non-stop for the next week.
I did not know anyone personally who died on that day,
but I read every article and watched the news 24/7.
One memory that will stay with me always,
is the American flags that I saw everywhere I looked
and the feeling of pride I had for my country.
We will never forget...

The number of casualties will be more than most of us can bear.

What are your memories of that day?

Just Checking in

Wow, that was fast.
September is here and summer is almost already gone.
I hope if you live here on the East coast
you were not too badly hit by Hurricane Irene.
We were spared but as little as 1 mile away from me
the devastation was really bad.
Five feet of water in some houses and businesses.
Very surreal looking at photos on Facebook
as it was happening.
After the worst was over,
and for us the power went out for all of 20 seconds
(which were the longest 20 seconds of my life)
we ventured outside to look for any damage
and luckily didn't find any.
No damage at rock wall? Check.
One #2 daughter still crazy?. Check.

One husband still cute in his yellow slicker? Check.

One never used swingset now tuned into a pool? Check.

One #3 daughter ready to put that pool to good use? Check.

And lastly, one page scrapped in the entire month of August
for the September gallery over at Write.Click.Scrapbook?
Check.

Have a great day!
