A Christmas Retrospective

                                                                          Merry Christmas!
I hope you are surrounded with the people you love
                                                                         today and always :)

I went back 19 years and collected all the Christmas photos
I had taken since we had children.
                                                               Here is a Christmas retrospective:

                                                                  1993 with our firstborn Ryann:

1997 we welcomed Megan:

And in 2000 added Erin to the family:

Which leads us to 2012:

Merry Christmas and
God Bless Us Everyone!

11 Days Left??!!

                                                                                What?
                                                                            Can that be?
Can someone please slow down the days until Christmas?
How is it that I feel like I just put away the tree from last year
and now it is Christmastime again?
So instead of shopping or wrapping or baking here I sit.
I have blogger's guilt for not blogging as much
so I thought I would actually post 2x this week!
                                                                                Go me!
I ordered our Christmas cards from Minted.com
and let me say how much I love them!
Years past, I literally would take 150 photos of my girls
to get just one that I actually liked.
After years and years of practice,
I got the shot in only 17 tries. lol
                                                                 Here is the runner-up photo:

I'll post the Christmas card closer to Christmas.
I've been taking a lot of photos lately.
Some for me, but I've been on a couple of photoshoots lately,
they've gone really well, I'm pleased to say.
Here is a favorite shot of Megan recently:

The house is decorated except for the tree,
which we'll put up this weekend.
I got a little crafty and put a cute Target ornament
into one of my apothecary jars with some mica snow
and I just love how it came out:

Andy and I ventured out to an annual holiday party,
which means buying a new dress
which means anxiety about finding a nice dress.
I am happy to report that I actually had 2 dresses bought
but returned one after much deliberating.
The days of going from store to store miserable
because the dresses are either
1) too hideous
2) too expensive
3) too matronly
4) too hoochie,
are hopefully over because a FB friend of mine
steered me to Lord & Taylor
where I fell in love with the Ralph Lauren line of dresses.
Here was the final selection
a classic black matte jersey with cutout sleeves:

We had a great time
while celebrating the fact that 35 years ago,
he asked me to be his girlfriend :)
Seems like yesterday...

It's been getting pretty chilly in these parts,
Hope you are as warm as Sweetie
                                                                               wherever you are!

                                                                           Thanks for stopping by!

To Make A Long Story...Long

Ok, so it's been almost 2 months since I last updated.
                                                      Time flies...right?
                                                Anyway, life has been busy,
so here is how to make a long story...long,
                                                   of life at the Wenkes.

This was the first year that I worked on Halloween.
I guess this means my kids are old :(
But not old enough to stop dressing up
while going door to door begging for candy from strangers.
And not old enough to pose for pics either!
Here is my puppy and my Angry Bird:

Next up was Ryann's college drama production,
The Rocky Horror Picture Show
which she was cast in the leading role of Janet.
Three plays so far in college,
and she has snagged a lead role in each one!
Seems to me that her middle school and high school
both missed out on her talent. Oh well :/
She killed it onstage, let me tell you!
This is a normally reserved, quiet soon-not-to-be teen,
who is very modest at home.
But this play called for her to be onstage in her underwear
saying and doing things that made her dad just a little uncomfortable
(I was cracking up the whole time at him, truth be told)

Soon after that she found out she got the lead role in the spring play as well!
They are doing the female version of The Odd Couple
and she will be the Felix character. I cannot wait!
Then she came home for Thanksgiving break.

Next up, Thanksgiving, where every year
I host both mine and Andy's families,
                                              usually totaling around 25 people.
This year, everyone was able to make it so the grand total
was 33 adults and 2 babies!
So much fun having everyone there :)

My new memo board in my kitchen greeted our guests
(Ikea frame spraypainted seafoam blue by Andy,
lovely calligraphy by my talented Mom!)
Instead of going around the table saying what we were thankful for,
I bought a whiteboard speech bubble
and had people write what they were thankful for.
(Anything for a photo op, I say!)
                                                                Here is Megan:

                                                              And Ryann:

And my Dad:

We had babies of all kinds!
Big babies:

Little babies:

                                             And even some food babies!

I have threatened time and time again
to put embarrassing photos before of these two crazys on my blog,
but I think they thought I wouldn't have the balls to actually post them,
the joke is on who now?

I went crazy decorating with new shelving,
new knick-knacks, flowers and photos for the big day
and here is one of my new favorite walls in the house:

I'll post more remodel pics soon.
So for now, Megan says, "Peace out!"
in the newly remodeled entryway :)

                                                  Thanks for stopping by!
